Pools & Lakes in Tbilisi

When the weather is good and the sun is out, Tbilisi offers 3 lakes of different sizes a short distance from the city center (15-20 minutes drive without traffic jams). If you want to get out of the noise and pressure of the city, feel the nature and escape the heat of Tbilisi, these are the most recommended places for you to visit:
Turtle Lake
Turtle Lake, which is named its unique shape and the fact that it used to host a lot of turtles, is the smallest between the lakes around Tbilisi and the closest to the city center. Located above Vake neighborhood at such height that you can enjoy the view of the city spread out in front of you. the lake surrounded by amazing trees and peaceful nature and offers its visitors different bars and cafes on the edge of the water along the eastern side together with several attractions such as boat rentals, omega and walking route around the lake (about 1 km). Lake station is a nice place for a break. The water are not clear but you can swim in it. The place is crowded during weekends and it's best to get there about an hour before sunset. Fun place for a few hours. no matter if you are a couple or a family with kids. Getting here is possible by taxi, by cable car from Vake park or by foot (the trail starts in Vake park). Open between 08:00-23:00 during the summer.

Lisi Lake
A medium-size lake, located northwest of Tbilisi and offers visitors a nice beach (with rescue services), bicycle rentals, a 4 km long circular route around the lake, cafes, restaurants, relaxation areas with hammocks, children's park and beautiful and organized hiking trails on the eastern side of the lake. The lake tends to have winds in the afternoon and is surrounded by trees on almost all sides. Nice place to visit to in the morning or before sunset on a pleasant day if you have free time and want to escape the city.

Tbilisi Sea
It is the largest lake which is actually a man-made lake that provides drinking water to Tbilisi population. It is significantly larger than the 2 lakes mentioned before and a better place for a swim. It is important to know that there are almost no shady areas around the lake and there are only few places to buy food or drink so it make sure you come ready. If you want the best experience while visiting Tbilisi sea, there are two places on the lake that offer a special activity for a sunny day. The first is Gino Paradise (open during the summer between 12:00-22:00) which offers a wellness center, cafes, restaurants, wave pool, heated pool, amazing slides, tidy beach, ropes park, dinosaur park and more (admission and use are subject to a fee). The second place is Tbilisi Sea Club (open during the summer between 09:00-20:00) with 2 amazing pools (including children's pool) with water from the lake, cafes, sunbathing area on a surface above the water, slides and an boats and motorboats area. The place is tidy and cozy. Most of the free beaches are located between those 2 places in the southwestern part of the lake.

Aquapark - Europark
Another great option to cool off on hot summer days with water activities is Aquapark which is better known as Europark. The park is located in the city of Tbilisi between Gotsiridze and Didube metro stations or can also be reached by taxi. The park offers 4 pools, Jacuzzi, large number of water slides including tube slide, artificial streams, wellness center, fitness center, cafes and restaurants. On weekends the price is a bit higher but still about a third of the price from anywhere else in the world. Open from 10:00 to 20:00 during the summer season only.
